Chemist by day, writer by night, Kim Kirkland a Maryland based Children’s author has published three delightful children’s fiction books, depicting life experiences in learning and having fun. Her books explore the importance of friendships, good manners, reaching for your goals, accepting one's differences and being the best person you can be. Her latest book Titled, "Vitiligo Doesn't Scare Me", can be found on Amazon and Barnes and Noble websites. Kirkland is also published poet who has written for several national and local organizations. She is a member of several literary organizations, including the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. Her goal in writing for children is to make reading enjoyable, and fun, while also learning valuable lessons.
Kim spent her childhood in East Orange, New Jersey, writing poems making up stories to tell her friends. Early on, she wrote about flowers, people, and feelings. These heartfelt stories always provided insight to children’s emotions regarding feelings (e.g., love, hope, happiness). She has spent her adult years writing poetry for the Federal Government Diversity events, Spoken Word poetry sets, and local charitable events.

She was encouraged to write stories for the public, and continues to write with a purpose for all to read. Adults as well as children love her heart-felt stories, and we hope you do too.
Kim received a B.S. in Chemistry from Tennessee State University, Nashville Tennessee in 1980, and a Masters, in Public Policy from the University of Maryland, in 1996.
She is the author of “I A Survivor,” a poem written for Sisters, Network Inc., A National African American breast cancer survivorship organization. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and several other literary organizations. She has two young adults, and three grandchildren, who she loves dearly, as she marvel in the things that say, which provide great writing material. She enjoys creating picture books, and has completed a manuscript for a children’s novel. So stay tuned.
